Documenting no auction catalogue exists

Documenting the absence of auction catalogues helps keep your catalogue raisonné complete and transparent.

While compiling auction records for your catalogue raisonné, you might encounter auctions for which no catalogue was ever issued. In such cases, it's essential to explicitly note that no catalogue exists. This confirms the entry is fully researched and that no data has been unintentionally left out. This tutorial guides you through the process of recording the absence of an auction catalogue.

1. Open the auction entry you want to edit.

2. Click the "No catalogue" toggle, located directly below the field for adding a catalogue.

The toggle documents that no catalogue was published for the auction. It is not available, if a publication entry has already been linked to the auction.

3. Once it is documented that no catalogue was published, the option to add a catalogue is deactivated.

The field that previously displayed the Add Catalogue button now shows a strikethrough catalogue icon. Should new research become available and a catalogue be found, you can deactivate the toggle to re-enable the option and add the catalogue.
