Artwork images provide essential context, aid in the accurate identification and highlighting details. In this tutorial, learn how to add and manage artwork images.
To document all your information about your artworks, you can add multiple images to its entry. The Navigating.art platform allows for two types of artwork images: preview images and related images. Preview images allow you to provide visual information, for example to show details of signatures and other markings or include framed reproduction shots. Related images can capture additional contexts, such as sketches, historical photographs, or reference images related to the artwork.
1. On the artwork detail page, find the section for the artwork imagery in the top left corner.
2. Click Edit artwork imagery.
3. Click + Add to add another image.
A dialog opens. In there, you see a section for preview images and one for related images.
4. Choose a resource to select media from.
A selection dialog opens. Use the filters to find the resource you're looking for. Confirm with Select.
The archival resource of the artwork dossier is always displayed at the bottom of the recent selection for easy access.
5. After choosing a resource, select the media and confirm with Select.
6. Click the link icon to open the archival resource the image is location in.
The newly added media file is now listed in the artwork imagery dialog.
7. Click the edit icon next to the image to open the edit dialog.
8. Optionally, add a comment or description in the edit dialog.
Note that when the image status is set to public, the comment and description will always be visible on the public display.
9. Change the visibility of the image.
Click the visibility status and select a different option from the dropdown menu. When the image is set to public, it will appear as part of the artwork preview images on the public website after republishing the artwork entry.
10. Change the image type.
Click the arrow in the type field and select a different option from the drop down.
