Importing files from the import bucket

This tutorial explains how to import folders with large batches of files directly from the import bucket onto the Navigating.art platform.

When working with large volumes of digitized material, importing files is essential to make this content accessible for your team. This process allows you to transfer multiple files or folders from your import bucket directly into the appropriate section of your Navigating.art project while maintaining structure, consistency, and control over your content.

Before you begin, ensure that your import credentials are saved and that the files you intend to transfer are correctly named and organized within the bucket.

Follow the steps below to carry out the import with confidence.

1. Open the destination resource and click +Add subresources.

3. Optional: expand the info box by clicking + see more to access instructions and credentials.

The info box offers instructions on uploading files and provides your credentials to connect to the S3 import bucket. Instructions for uploading files can also be found here. Skip this step if you have already uploaded your files for the import.

5. Select one or multiple folders for import.

The list shows all available folders from the S3 import bucket. Please note that you can only select and import the top-level folders. Folders within these directories will be imported as sub-resources and can be moved to a different location in your archive after the import.

7. Activate or deactivate OCR processing.

You have the option to activate or deactivate Optical Character Recognition (OCR) during the import. OCR processing is enabled by default. You need OCR data in order to use full-text search features.

If you are certain that the materials do not contain any text, it is recommended to deactivate OCR processing, as it is unnecessary and saves time.
