Using the document viewer

The document viewer enables you to view image files and scans from your catalogue in the platform. Discover how to use the document viewer to see even image details or to employ the full-text search feature for your scans.

In your catalogue, the document viewer provides essential tools for efficient navigation, including full-screen viewing for scans and images, easy access to specific information with full-text search, zoom functionality for detailed examination of images, and image adjustment options like contrast enhancement for improved clarity. This tutorial will guide you through maximizing the utility of the document viewer.

1. Open the file in full-screen mode.

You can open any scan or media file in full-screen mode by hovering over the preview image and clicking the View button. [The button text varies depending on the type of file you access (e.g., publication, catalogue, preview image).]

2. In the full-screen mode, hover over the top of the image to see the title and date of the resource.

3. Zoom in and out.

Zoom in and out by clicking the magnifying glass icon or use a pinch-to-zoom gesture to adjust the zoom level. Once zoomed in, drag the image to reposition it on the screen.

4. Adjust brightness, contrast, and orientation.

After clicking the adjustments icon, a section for image adjustments opens. Adjust brightness, contrast, and rotation to see the details better.

5. Return to the default setting by using the back button.

6. Click the grid icon to see all the pages of the publication as previews next to the selected page.

7. See the artwork references in the file.

Select the artwork-reference icon located in the side menu to view all referenced artworks alongside the file. Click the link icon to navigate directly to the corresponding page.

8. Edit the media details.

Click the corresponding icon in the side menu to open the media details. Here, you can edit the visibility status or add copyright information.

9. Use the full-text search.

Click the search icon in the menu to open the full-text search. Enter any keyword and confirm by pressing Enter. The results will be listed next to the file. Click on any result to navigate to the corresponding page.

10. Click the letter icon in the side menu to see the transcribed text.

You have the option to adjust the size of the transcribed text using the slider, which makes reading and copying the transcribed text easier.

11. Click the speech bubble in the side menu to open the chat feature.

Enter your question and confirm with Send. The chat generates answers based on the information within the scanned document.

12. Via the corresponding icon in the sidebar, you have the option to download the original or a web-optimized version of the media file. The web-optimized variant is compressed, making it more convenient for web applications.

13. Jump to a specific page by overwriting the current page number. confirm with Enter.
